Company History
Mr. Robert Smyth started his business in Plumbing & Heating in April 1980, and by 1984 an Engineering facility commenced in conjunction with the existing Plumbing Business.
In 1986 Mrs Joyce Smyth joined her husband full-time in the Business.
The Business was carried on in a 4,000 sq. ft purpose built building at the rear of the Promoters' residence. The working area was 3,000 sq. ft. and storage and office accommodation was 1,000 sq. ft.
The existing Business was expanded to facilitate the manufacture of Stainless Steel tanks with a capacity of up to 30,000 gallons. In order to handle such tanks a new building of 6,000 sq. ft with a height to the eaves of 10 meters and with an overhead crane was required. The existing building has a height to the eaves of only 5 meters and has no overhead crane.
In 1988 a new extension was built adjacent to the existing 4,000 sq. ft workshop. This new building has a floor space of 12,000 sq. ft. In one area of the building (8,000 sq. ft) there is an overhead crane running the full length of the workshop, having a lifting capacity of 10 tonne. The other extension of 4,000 sq. ft is primarily used for the storage of raw materials and finished products.
The last addition to the workshop was a new building comprising of a further 9,000 sq. ft floor space, built in 1992, now giving the company a total of three buildings having a floor space of 25,000 sq. ft and includes modern equipment and machinery, capable of producing materials and goods to the clients specification.
